Graduated from High School in 1984 in Philippi, West Virginia. I immediately moved to Mill Valley, California in order to get away from Huntington’s disease, which had claimed the life of my grandfather and my great grandmother and which had begun to affect my mother. In California, I began working towards a career in film. I worked on a independent productions and at a film rental place in San Francisco. I realized I wanted to give back to the community so while I kept my camera, by my side, always, I moved into working in the mental health field.
In1995 I returned to West Virginia to assist my mother whose mental and physical health deteriorated to a devastating level. My constant companion became my video camera into which I began to confide my inner confusion and turmoil. I also filmed my mother who was in the latter stages of Huntington’s. The result of the work done over the past 18 years of filming is the documentary: HUNTINGTON’S DANCE.
