Jon Goldman

Director, “Market Hours”
Jon Goldman was born in Boulder, Colorado, the son of a university physics professor and high school English teacher. Jon spent several years of his adolescence in Paris, acquiring an early taste for world cinema, foreign languages and international stories. As a filmmaker, Jon has written about Buddhists in the Rocky Mountains, coffee buyers in the Colombian jungle and a Korean exchange student stuck with an overbearing American host family. His short film "Diplomacy," a wry take on the power of interpreters in top-level negotiations between the United States and Iran, played over two dozen film festivals worldwide including Abu Dhabi, South by Southwest and Tokyo Short Shorts, winning jury and audience awards in Paris, Aspen, New York, Switzerland and Mexico. Jon was selected to participate in both the Film Independent Directing Lab and Film Independent Screenwriting Lab, and was previously both an Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences Nicholl Fellowship Finalist and Netflix/Film Independent FIND Your Voice Film Competition Finalist. His film industry mentors have included Robin Swicord, Keith Gordon, Anthony Hemingway and Alexander Payne. Jon is a graduate of Stanford University with a B.A. in English Literature and Creative Writing. He speaks fluent French and a bit of Korean and Italian.
