Michael Grasso is an award winning director with over 40 years of experience. Having garnered major awards and worldwide recognition for his work in advertising, Michael turned his focus towards narrative filmmaking. THE UMBRELLA MAN penned by Michael and his brother Joseph, marks his feature film debut.
Born in Rome, New York, Michael grew up in Sacramento, Ca. where he began shooting film at age 13. He first professional job came in 1970 at a local Sacramento television station. Michael eventually opened his own production company which he moved to New York in the early 1980’s.
His directorial work has won numerous awards including the prestigious Gold Lion from the Cannes Film Festival and several nominations by the Director’s Guild of America for Director of the Year. In addition to the U.S., he has produced and directed in China, Italy, France, Germany, England, South Africa, Brazil, Australia and Argentina.
