Ted Chiang
Ted Chiang is an American speculative fiction writer. As of 2013, Chiang's short fiction has won 4 Nebula awards, 4 Hugo awards, the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer, 4 Locus awards, and others. His novella,
Story of Your Life, is being made into a feature film by director, Denis Villeneuve, based on the adapted screenplay by Eric Heisserer (HOURS) and starring Amy Adams. After the record-breaking Cannes deal Paramount made to
acquire North American and China rights to Story of Your Life, Fox made a pre-emptive acquisition of
Understand, a sci-fi spec script by Heisserer that is based on a short story by Chiang.
Ted Chiang was born in Port Jefferson, New York and graduated from Brown University with a Computer Science degree. He currently works as a technical writer in the software industry and resides in Bellevue, near Seattle, Washington. He is a graduate of the noted Clarion Writers Workshop (1989).
